When you give a blood sample, you are trusting the laboratory to give you a correct result. One of the ways a laboratory earns that trust is by proving its results against other laboratories through external quality assurance.

What is external quality assurance?

External quality assurance (EQAS) is a system in which a laboratory receives samples with known values, tests them blind, and sends its results back to an independent body. That body compares the results with those of many other laboratories running the same samples. If a laboratory consistently matches the expected values, it shows the lab is producing accurate and reliable results.

What does VILAC involve?

VILAC is a proficiency testing programme run by the Association of Practising Pathologists (APP), which works with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Faridabad Diagnostic Centre takes part in VILAC on a regular basis, and our participation is reviewed year on year. It is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time certificate.

Why this matters for you

Put simply, participation in an external programme means our results are checked against a wider standard. It is one more layer of care you cannot see, but it is part of why you can rely on the report you receive. You can see our current certificates on our quality and credentials page.
